Mattie, a young slave woman, is forced to leave her infant son to become a wet nurse to baby Elizabeth. The bond that formed between these two was unbreakable, and would extend into their adult years.
This book, told from the standpoint of a slave woman vs a free one, will capture your heart and emotions. Ultimately, both women ended up leaving the plantation (on their own terms), in search of a better life. Little did they know, their paths would meet again.
I loved the flow of this book and the character development. Unfortunately, I read the sequel, “Mustard Seed” before this one, but loved it just the same.
I would highly recommend this 💎💎💎💎💎 historical account by Laila Ibrahim.
